MOTHER SURVIVES KNIFE LODGED IN THE HEAD AFTER ATTACK BY SON

Ms. Monicah Wanjiru, a sixty year old woman from Ng’arua, Laikipia West District is recuperating at Kenyatta National Hospital after undergoing a successful surgery to remove a knife implanted in the temporal region.

According to Ms Wanjiru (widowed) who was admitted on 22nd October 2016, her 35 year old son picked a quarrel before stabbing her on the right side of the head with a kitchen knife.

A multi-disciplinary team of specialists who included maxillofacial, neurosurgeons, anaesthetists and nurses added that it was a delicate surgery but were optimistic as they embarked on the life saving exercise.

The patient did not only suffer physical injury but she is also traumatized and she is undergoing counseling. However, she is out of danger and may be discharged soon following utmost medical care.
